Summer Bodies

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the extended silence. I hope everyone handled it OK. It's summer, and even though public transportation has resumed its warm weather poop and pee aroma, the McGraws have definitely been enjoying the season. We both turned 32 this July, so naturally we've started thinking about how we will someday die, and how in the meantime our bodies will slowly deteriorate. Which is why we've made new commitments to fitness! Our main method of exercise is Yoga Booty Ballet! What is Yoga Booty Ballet? In a nutshell, it's a workout regime that combines yoga and ballet that gives your booty a world class workout!

It's hosted by Tea and Gillian, who are a hot topic around our apartment. We HATE Gillian--she fake laughs all the time, has a weird face and always makes really gross moaning noises. Tea's alright, but it seems like Gillian holds her back. Maybe Tea should break free and start her own videos. She could call them: "Yoga, Booty, Gillian Has Never Been in a Stable Long Term Relationship and Lies About Her Age By the Way She is 42 and Thinks That Brushing Your Teeth More Than Once a Day is Unhealthy, Ballet". We could totally get on board with that workout.Stupid Gillian on the left and Pushover Tea on the right

We hope that you all are having a great summer! We're playing at the Duo Fest at Helium on Wednesday, July 28th, 8pm--so come out and admire our bodies, courtesy of Tea (whatevs) and Gillian (blech). We'll be singing some stuff you probably haven't heard before, plus the old favorites. Namaste!!!!!

Meet Regis!

Hey everyone! Tonight our cat, Little Baby Regis Gertie Ralph S.P. Lamirand-McGraw tried on a new hat and I caught the moment in video form. Enjoy! (And don't forget to come see us sing at The Dive this Friday night! Details in the sidebar!)

Get Thee Behind Me, Winter!

Hey everyone! What did you think of the winter? What? I can't hear you. Oh, that's right! No wonder I can't hear you. All of our friends on the east coast killed themselves because the winter was so horrible!

Well, luckily Emily and Micah are still alive and kicking in the tiny apartment in West Philly--trying to make up dumb songs together without getting divorced and having a great time doing it! We put on our snow shoes and got out to play a few shows this season, starting with A Very Merry McGraw Christmas, which was a terrific success! Everyone seemed very drunk afterwards, and I think I might have smelled a marijuana cigarette outside, so I guess you folks had fun! The other shows were fun too, but with less marijuana smells.

We will be playing lots more this Spring, so we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, we'll be here at home, trying to decide which musical direction we'd like to take next. We're thinking we'd like have a darker, more mentally ill/Anti-Satan vibe. A lot like this amazing video:

Yay! See you soon everyone! Until then....more Spring, less Satan!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Show! Friday, December 18th! Yes!!!!!

Yes! It's almost time for our Christmas show, "A Very Merry McGraw Christmas"! We are excited! With special guests Doogie Horner, Joey Dougherty, The Sixth Borough (including everyone's favorite game show, "How Big of an Asshole is Pat Kelly"), and special music from Emily and Micah--this show is going to be great! The whole darn thing will be so super special that you will get special feelings that you'll want to share with your special someone. And, if you don't have a special someone, there's a little convenience store around the corner from the Ric Rac where I like to buy 40 oz beers. Whenever I am there, sweaty gentlemen are always saying romantic things to me in Spanish. I'm sure you could find a special sweetie to spend the holidays with there if push came to shove!

So, bundle up and come out to the Ric Rac, 1132 S. 9th St., Friday, December 18th at 8pm! Bring your friends and $10 and something to drink! It's going to be funnnnnnn!

Updation and Announation!!!

Hi, everyone! How is your November so far? Wait, could you tell me later? I don't have time to listen to your hay ride story right now, we have a lot to tell you. Well, maybe not really--it's just that your hay ride story sounds like it could be boring.

So far, our November has been pretty great. It's amazing how much nicer people become when the weather turns pleasant! With the trees in their autumnal glory, the crisp air and the 64 bus not smelling like hot pee, Philadelphia is in its prime!

In performing news, we had the pleasure of opening for Secret Pants this last Friday at the Shubin. What fun! The audience was rad and the Miller Lite backstage was ice cold! Thanks Secret Pants!!!!! We brought our camera on stage so that someone could take our picture while we sang, but got distracted when people busted up at jokes that Micah wrote and Emily thought were really "just OK". We did take some pictures of ourselves while we waited to go on. I like to call this one, "Emily and Micah Are Douchebags":
So, remember that announcement we said we would make? Well, we're ready to make it. Mark your advent or dreidel calendar (or your snow goddess calendar or your satanic chart or whatever), because Emily and Micah are putting on a holiday show! "Connie's Ric Rac Presents: A Very Merry McGraw Christmas" will be at the Ric Rac (1132 S. 9th Street), December 18th at 8pm! We're really doing it up and promise a great show! Like any good holiday special, we'll have some super-special guests including, Doogie Horner (awesome stand-up that will blow your freaking mind), Corey Cohen and Jason Messina (members of the Sixth Borough sketch comedy troupe, and all around weirdos), and...everyone's favorite game show: "How Big of an Asshole is Pat Kelly" with Pat Kelly himself!!!!

We're planning some surprises too, so make sure you plan on coming! Until then here's a bit of our inspiration via our favorite romantically involved sibling musical duo's Christmas special (with some creepy puppets; one of Emily's favorites, Harvey Korman; and her idol, Kristy McNichol):
See you later!!!

Do we really talk like that?

Hey! Did you miss us on the radio? You did? Why? Oh, never mind. Just listen to it now on this convenient podcast! Enjoy Micah describe one of his greatest (of many) public humiliations, and be offended by Emily's disparaging remarks about Thomas Kinkade and the Chinese language! Click here!

Get excited about fall!

Hey everyone! Fall is in full swing in Philadelphia and it is lovely! Autumn is particularly nice here in West Philadelphia. We love this season and think that fall is just about the coziest thing that could happen to a person. A lot of anarchists make their home here and boy are they good at layering! Seriously! They really know how to dress for weather. I'm really glad that all of the dumb, transient anarchists are gone. They come in the summer and bring their not-fixed dogs and ask for money by calling you "Ma'am" or "Sir". They also smell very bad. Also, I am 92% sure they have master's degrees. Anyway, the bad, annoying, smelly, transient anarchists have all been scared away by temperatures in the high 60s, and now we are left with the nice, productive, showered, home-owning and thoughtfully dressed anarchists. What a relief! I am friends with a few of them and enjoy running into them so they can remind me of things that I should be avoiding or should be feeling guilty about. Yay fall!

In other news, we've been gearing up for cold weather by making project plans! We love making stuff and can't wait to be hunkered down in the apartment with Regis and projects. Project #1: beer making! Our first batch is bottled and will be ready to enjoy in 2 weeks.

In performing news, we are gearing up to sing as guests of Secret Pants' for their new show at the Shubin Theater on November 6! And...we'll have an announcement shortly about an upcoming show that could potentially be really, really fun. We'll keep you posted. Until then, enjoy fall! Go Phillies!
